Playdough

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup salt
5 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Colour: 2 teaspoons liquid food colouring
or 1/4 teaspoon paste food colouring
Glitter (optional)

Instructions

Mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar together in a saucepan. In a separate bowl, combine water, oil, and colour. Add the wet ingredients to the saucepan and stir until well mixed.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 3 to 5 minutes until the mixture forms a cohesive ball.

Turn out and cool until easy to handle. Knead for 2 to 3 minutes, until smooth… (It’s very pleasant to work with the warm dough.) Cool to room temperature, and store in an an airtight container. This recipe makes about 1 pound of playdough, a grapefruit sized ball.
