Baking Powder Biscuits

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt

4 tablespoons butter or margarine
7/8 cup milk (Beware: 1 cup is too much)

Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit Measure dry ingredients into a medium bowl. Add butter. Cut into flour mixture until crumbly.

Add milk. Stir with a fork until gathered and mixed. Turn out on a lightly floured surface. Knead gently 10 times. (Kneading is important for a good rise!) Roll or pat dough out to 3/4″ (2 cm) thick. Cut with a round 2″ (5 cm) cookie cutter or glass.

Put biscuits on an un-greased baking sheet, 1 inch apart. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly browned.
